Top Ten Tips for Exam-writing Success

Top 10 Tips

Oliver Study Notes have helped over 100,000 students successfully pass their accreditation exams. You can benefit from our expertise by following these tips for exam-writing success:

  1. Do not cram for the exam the day before. If you have studied, you should be well- prepared. Spend the day before the exam resting and relaxing. If you have readiness jitters, try some more q&a to enhance your comfort level.
  2. Have a good night’s sleep.
  3. Make sure you bring all the items you will need: pencils, eraser, pens, paper, calculator (with a fresh battery), tissues, a watch, etc. Organize these in front of you so you can quickly find what you need.
  4. Read through the exam and if you are able to answer any questions correctly as you go, do so.
  5. Do not expect that you will be able to answer all questions easily.
  6. At the end of the first pass-through, take a deep breath and collect your thoughts. Now, start to use what you have studied and learned.
  7. Start the second reading on the exam. Read slowly and carefully and recognize the distractors (the wrong answers) for what they are: answers that are meant to distract you from the correct answer.
  8. If you feel you are not going to complete the exam in the allotted time, leave those questions that are most time-consuming and of which you are most uncertain until you have completed all other questions.
  9. If wrong answers are not subtracted from right answers in the marking, and you have answered all the questions you know, take your best guess.
  10. Do not look around you at what others are doing. If you do, you may be alarmed if it appears those close to you have different answers to the questions or if they are moving at a much quicker pace than you. They may have a different test than yours. Focus on yours.

Good Luck!
